What I Wish I’d Known When I Left My Job

When I left my job in 2022 it took me months to reach a £10k month. It was simple, I just didn’t know what I didn’t know. Here is the short version.

When I left my job in 2022, I spent the next good few months trying to get to my first £10k month.

It wasn't easy. But looking back, it was simple. I just didn't know what I didn't know.

I have now made a couple of million online and our clients have made far more, so I recorded the video I wish someone had sat me down with back then. This is the written version.

£10k a month is one sale

One £10,000 sale and you're done. Or ten at £1,000. Or four at £2,500.

Every one of those is easier to deliver than 200 clients paying you £50 a month. I didn't see that at the start. So before you do anything else, check the maths on your model actually works.

After that, there are only three things to get right.

Visibility

How do you get in front of the right person?

If you're new, don't spend money on ads. You'll just burn cash. Use content, use partnerships, and borrow trust from places like podcasts, where someone else has already done the work of earning an audience.

Your offer

This is the one I'd shout at my 2022 self about. Most people refuse to get specific about who they help and how.

Solve a parachute problem. If we were both falling out of a plane and I had a spare parachute, I could sell it to you for a million pounds. You'd find the money somehow.

Then make sure the person with that problem can actually pay. We've worked with fitness coaches who loved helping people in their late teens get back into training. Lovely idea, but even £50 a month is a hard sale to that person. An entrepreneur in their 30s who understands what being fitter is worth will pay hundreds a month for the same skill.

Sales

You don't need a fancy setup for your first £10k month. Map out how someone goes from meeting you for the first time to becoming a client. Take the risk away with a guarantee. If you're charging over about £1,500, get them on a call.

And on that call, let them tell you what pain they're in, then ask "Are you ready to get started?" more than once. That's what brings the real objections out, so you can actually handle them.

That's it

Find something people want, be clear about why they should want it from you, and make it easy and safe to buy.

If you already have paying clients and your revenue hasn't really moved in months, one of those pieces is jammed. The hard part is seeing which one from the inside.

It's under nine minutes and it has become the best performing video on my channel.
